College student Olesya Krivtsova missed many lessons.

Because she is 20 years old Olesya is under house arrest. She has an electronic tag on her leg in which Police can monitor their every move.

"I never imagined anyone could get such a long prison sentence for posting something on the internet," Olesya says. "I'd seen reports of crazy verdicts in Russia, but I hadn't paid much attention and continued to speak out."

"When I realized I'd been put on the same list as school shooters and the Islamic State group I thought it was crazy," recalls Olesya.

Employees have been let go thus far in the US across a variety of business areas, including Chrome, Cloud, and its experimental Area 120 unit. Other employees who worked on the company's artificial intelligence technology, according to Bloomberg, were also let go.

CNBC was shown a list of the top queries from workers, which included incisive inquiries for management.

"How were the job cuts made? One highly scored question said, "Some excellent achievers were fired from our teams. "This hurts the remaining Googlers who witness someone with great visibility, favorable ratings, and a promotion yet still being fired."

What criteria were used to decide who was let go? Another popular query was read. Was the decision based on the employee's performance, the scope of the position, both, or something else?

How much runway are we trying to gain with the layoffs, another person questioned. Would you be able to properly describe what Google can do via layoffs that it could not have done without them?

Another one that received high marks challenged Pichai's claim in the email that "I accept full responsibility for the actions that lead us here."

On Dory, a worker inquired, "What does accepting full responsibility entail?" "Responsibility without repercussions appears to be a meaningless platitude. Is the leadership skipping increases and incentives this year? Will anybody be resigning?

Some workers got together on their own and formed impromptu organizations to find solutions. To keep track of those who were let go and the department they worked in, employees created a Google doc spreadsheet.

A Discord channel named Google post-layoffs was created by more than 5,000 laid-off workers, with themes ranging from ranting to labor organization and immigration difficulties. Some staff members set up Google meetings virtually. Others attempted to plan in-person gatherings.

Some people used the organization's internal meme maker to communicate with one another, find solace, and find solutions.

One meme included Mila Kunis from the film "Friends with Benefits." The unfortunate part is, I genuinely believed you were different, Kunis said in a sentence directed at the Google logo. Another parody had the caption "Leadership pay cut" and included the late President Bill Clinton waving the number "zero."

"Alphabet leadership claims 'full responsibility' for this decision, but there is little consolation to the 12,000 employees who are now without employment," said Parul Koul, executive chair of Alphabet Workers Union-CWA in a statement Friday. "A firm that generated $17 billion in profit in the previous quarter alone is acting atrociously and inappropriately."

An estimated 110,000 people crowded Tel Aviv's streets in one of the biggest anti-government protests the country has witnessed in the previous ten years.

Protests broke out throughout the city center with banners calling for an end to the government coalition, which is the most religious-nationalist in Israel's history.

"This is a risky government," said Yaara Ben Geraluf, a teacher from the western seaside district of Jaffa.

His coalition comprises groups including one whose leader has a history of harboring prejudices towards Arab people and another whose outright homophobia and sexism are on display.

Protesters accuse Mr. Netanyahu of undermining democratic governance amid an unusual dispute between the new government and Israel's courts.

Tal Meidan, a Tel Aviv interior designer, displayed a poster showing Benjamin Netanyahu and his two ultranationalist followers as "the cats trying to take the milk."

Holding her young son Michael, she said, "I feel what they are doing is morally and ethically wrong."

"I'm trying not to cry since we made a lot of sacrifices to come to this country. I don't want my children to join the military right now," she said.

"I want my four children to live in a new country, one where I, Arabs, and homosexuals are all treated equally. If not, we, unfortunately, cannot see raising children here," she said.

The protest organizations are not united.

Many people focus their opposition on what they perceive to be an unprecedented attack on the legal system, while others concentrate on what they perceive to be an attack on Israel's secular life, given that the coalition is made up of parties that strictly adhere to religious observance.

During the protests, some protestors seemed to be the minority while others centered their cause on Israel's occupation of the Palestinian Territories. The BBC recorded a minor scuffle that occurred when one protester objected to others waving Palestinian flags.

Mr. Netanyahu condemns the protests and claims that those who participate are disobeying the will of the people.

"Two months ago, there was a huge protest—the mother of all protests. Millions of people flooded the streets to cast their ballots in the elections. The previous week," he said.

One of the main concerns for voters was legal system reform.

"I must acknowledge that we did not promote civil war or bring up the breakdown of the state while we were in the opposition," he said. "I expect the leadership of the opposition to act similarly."

The protests reignite old divisions in Israel between liberals and nationalists, the religiously devout and the secular.

While the protesters have clogged Tel Aviv's streets, they have traditionally been underrepresented in Israel as a whole. Israelis have swung to the right, according to polls.

Benjamin Netanyahu has become more reliant on the most extreme groups within Israel's religious-nationalist movement as once-loyal followers have turned against him.

Since he is facing a corruption prosecution, he is maybe in his weakest position as prime minister right now.

According to Mr. Biden's lawyer, US Department of Justice (DoJ) investigators allegedly found six additional classified documents during a 13-hour search of the president's Delaware home.

Ukraine will soon get 50 anti-aircraft Cheetah systems from Germany. Berlin and Washington reached an agreement earlier this month on a $3 billion assistance package for Ukraine, as part of which Germany would send 40 Marder infantry combat vehicles and a Patriot missile defense system to Kyiv. In exchange, the United States will provide 50 Bradley combat vehicles.

The next military mobilization of our common adversary must be outpaced by global mobilization, Zelenskyy stated via video conference on Wednesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Austin announced this before the Ramstein summit, emphasizing the significance of "nations of goodwill" concentrating on "winning today's war and the challenges to come." On Friday, the United States urged allies to "dig deeper" in response to the conflict in Ukraine.

The Baltic nations, Poland, and Finland gave the go-ahead for their own Leopard 2 tanks to be sent to Ukraine. The Polish government voiced considerable annoyance that Berlin had not yet done the same.

Mark Rutte, the prime minister of the Netherlands, said on Thursday that sending tanks to Ukraine was "a delicate choice."

"I do agree that there is a need for sending tanks to Ukraine. Taking the choice in concert with others, such as our allies in the U.S., is also a viable option, Rutte said at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

He continued by expressing his "pretty hopeful optimism" that things "may get to a landing position."
