2022 California Primary Election Story (Governor)

A head to head comparison of the 2022 California Primary gives us an idea of the break down of the voters.

Gavin Newsom received 66.93% (3.9M votes) beating both Brian Dahle who had 21.09% (1.23M votes) and Michael Shellenberger who had 4.91% (286050 votes) in the overall count of votes in California if the election were among these 3 candidates.

Gavin Newsom wins 45 counties out of the counties in the state of California to support his claims of his movement in the country. Brian Dahle won 13 counties and Joe Biden won just 2 counties in the state of California.

These 10 counties play an important role in these primary elections. If a candidate, can get a sizable majority, it becomes very difficult to win majorities in the smaller counties with out voter out reach and increased voter participation in them.

In a head to head match up on just the total number of votes, Brian Dahle (81.1%) beats Michael Shellenberger (18.9%). Gavin Newsom (93.2%) beats Michael Shellenberger (6.8%) and Gavin Newsom (76.0%) beats Brian Dahle (24.0%).

Gavin Newsom simply won the majority of the top 10 counties. Brian Dahle and Michael Shellenberger could not achieve a victory since Gavin Newsom captures so many voters across most counties.
